Apple Exploring Personal Home Robots

Apple is exploring the possibility of selling personal home robots. The company currently has a team of engineers developing a robot that can follow users around their homes. The company’s engineering division, artificial intelligence, and machine learning group oversee the project.

Apple isn’t the first tech company to produce a personal home robot. Amazon introduced the Astro home robot in 2021, which can follow its owner from room to room while playing their favorite shows or music. The robot can also deliver reminders, snap photos, and notify the owner of incoming Alexa calls. The Apple home robot will likely have similar capabilities. Apple shifted its focus to home robotics after abandoning its decades-long electric vehicle project due to low margins. Many employees who previously worked on Apple’s electric vehicles will focus their energy on the home robot. The home robot is still in the very early stages of development.
