Jackson State is the first HBCU to provide students with stackable micro-credentials. The program offering the credentials is called the “Fundamentals of Cyber IT and Innovation.” It will launch on March 20th. Students will have access to a curriculum that includes Python coding language, iOS application development, tech troubleshooting, cybersecurity fundamentals, and virtual reality and augmented reality technology fundamentals. The micro-credentials are small accredited educational experiences that will enhance professional skills. Students who complete a micro-credential will earn a digital badge to display on their LinkedIn profile or resume.
The university wants to ensure students are fully prepared to enter a dynamic workforce that is quickly changing with AI. The credentials will give students the technical tools they need to succeed in an evolving workforce. Students interested in the program should contact the JSU Center For Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.
