AT&T has announced plans to issue a $5 bill credit to wireless customers impacted by the outage that occurred on Thursday, acknowledging the frustration caused by the disruption. The credit, intended as a gesture to “make it right,” will be automatically applied to potentially affected customers’ accounts. However, the credit is limited to $5 per wireless account, regardless of the number of impacted lines, and excludes users of AT&T Business, AT&T Prepaid, and Cricket services. While AT&T believes it has reached out to potentially affected customers, those seeking additional credits are encouraged to contact the carrier’s call centers. The outage, which began early Thursday morning, prompted widespread reports of service disruptions, though AT&T clarified that it was due to an issue during network maintenance, not a cyberattack.
