U.S. forces in Jordan may have mistaken an enemy drone for an American one, allowing it to strike a desert base and kill three U.S. troops. The fallen troop members were identified by the Pentagon as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia. The attack occurred as President Biden faces challenges in responding to Iran without escalating the situation. The drone penetrated a base in Jordan, where the U.S. mistakenly believed it to be a friendly drone returning. The Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, is also facing impeachment allegations from House Republicans. The attack adds complexity to the already tense Middle East situation as Biden has been seeking to avoid further conflict.
