Softball Will Return to Wiley University

Wiley University is bringing back softball next spring. The sport will initially return as a club sport for 2024-2025 but plans to become a varsity sport the following academic year. The new softball team will allow the university to compete in the HBCU Athletic Conference, currently known as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

Wiley’s former softball program ended in the early 2000s. The university’s Director of Athletics, Rafael Gonzalez, is ecstatic that the school is adding the sport to the Department. Wiley University has appointed Kendrick Biggs as Interim Head Coach. Biggs stated, “I think the return of softball is an exciting opportunity for the university and potential players.” Coach Kendrick Biggs looks forward to recruiting students nationwide for the women’s softball team. Biggs is responsible for transforming the school’s baseball program and is ready to help Wiley’s women’s softball team succeed. Softball will become the university’s 13th varsity sport.
