Keith Douglas Freeman, a senior administrator for both the village of Dolton and Thornton Township, has been charged with bankruptcy fraud by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois. The charges relate to false statements in his bankruptcy petition intended to conceal his income and assets. Freeman is accused of underreporting his income from multiple roles and a private consulting business, as well as failing to declare additional funds he received while serving as the village administrator for Robbins. He faces a maximum of five years in federal prison if convicted. The case arises from an ongoing federal investigation, with an arraignment date yet to be scheduled.
This news was announced after Dolton was thrust into the spotlight after its mayor, Tiffany Henyard, was accused of violating human rights, a cover-up, and corruption. Recently, the city’s trustees hired Chicago’s former Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate Tiffany Henyard’s multimillion-dollar deficit and corruption.
