One of the patrons who funded the crowdfunded anti-child trafficking film, “Sound of Freedom,” has been arrested and charged with felony child kidnapping. Fabian Marta, whose name appears in the movie’s credits as one of the investors, was charged in July and was arrested on July 23. Screenshots of since-removed social media posts appear to show Marta expressing pride in funding the film. “Sound of Freedom” dramatizes the story of anti-child sex-trafficking organization Operation Underground Railroad and its founder, Tim Ballard, portrayed by Jim Caviezel. The film’s release was delayed before being crowdfunded for its theatrical release, and it has garnered both support and criticism for its portrayal of the issue and its lead actor’s espousal of QAnon conspiracy theories. Marta’s next court date is scheduled for August 28, and if found guilty, he could face 10 years to life in prison.
