Sen. Mitch McConnell freezes again at Kentucky event

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell experienced another freeze during a media gathering in Covington, Kentucky, when he was asked about his plans for re-election. This incident occurred after a similar incident in July. McConnell paused for over 30 seconds before an aide approached him to clarify the question. He continued to have difficulty responding to questions and eventually left the event. A spokesperson stated that McConnell felt momentarily lightheaded and paused, and while he feels fine, he will consult a doctor before his next event. McConnell spoke for about 20 minutes before the Q&A session, and afterward, he made phone calls to fellow Republicans in Senate leadership. He assured them that he was feeling fine and in good spirits.  President Joe Biden expressed concern upon learning about McConnell’s episode and stated that he would reach out to him later in the day.
