Ron DeSantis calls out Trump’s 2020 election claims

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has firmly rejected former President Donald Trump’s claim that he was the true winner of the 2020 presidential election. In a recent interview, DeSantis stated that “whoever puts their hand on the Bible on Jan. 20 every four years is the winner” and unequivocally acknowledged that Joe Biden is the president. DeSantis also discussed the flaws he saw in the 2020 election but asserted that Trump had lost. He criticized Trump for signing the CARES Act, which he believes contributed to the expansion of mail-in ballots. DeSantis has refused to attack Trump over his legal troubles, focusing instead on presenting a positive vision for the future. He also defended Florida’s new standards on teaching Black history, stating that enslaved people developed skills “in spite of slavery, not because of slavery.” DeSantis has faced criticism over these standards, including from some Black Republicans in Congress. He also stood by his proposal to use “lethal force” against migrants suspected of smuggling drugs at the border. DeSantis served during the war in Iraq and he is the only veteran running in the 2024 presidential race.
