Pence says he doesn’t plan to testify against Trump unless he has to

Former Vice President Mike Pence stated that he has “no plans” to testify against former President Donald Trump in a potential trial related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. However, Pence said he would respond to the call of the law if required. The federal indictment unveiled against Trump alleges his attempts to seize a second term, including pressuring Pence to refuse to certify President Joe Biden’s electoral votes. The indictment reveals that Pence kept contemporaneous notes of some conversations with Trump. Pence described the Jan. 6 select committee investigating the Capitol riot as “partisan” and initially resisted appearing before the grand jury, but ultimately complied. Pence’s recent condemnations of Trump and his allies have brought him into the spotlight as he seeks momentum in the Republican presidential primary race. Despite attacks from Trump, Pence remains firm in his decision not to stop the certification of the election.
