NBA All-Star Weekend Will Feature First in History NBA vs WNBA 3pt Contest

Source: NBA Facebook

The NBA made the official announcement that for the first time in history, there will be a NBA vs WNBA 3pt contest featuring top talent from both leagues respectfully. The ‘Stephen vs. Sabrina 3-point challenge’ will feature NBA’s Stephen Curry and WNBA’s Sabrina Ionescu as they battle it out for the crown of best 3-point shooter in this upcoming 2024 NBA All Star Weekend. Curry has won the NBA 3-point contest twice and he also is currently the NBA’s all time leader for 3-pointers made in the regular season at 3585. Ionescu set and holds the record for the most 3-pointers made in a season single in the WNBA at 128 3-pointers made.

Curry had held the record for the most points in the 3-point contest at 31 pts but Ionescu broke that record in 2023 as she recorded 37 total points in the 2023 WNBA All Star weekend 3-point contest. Her 37 points is the most points in the 3-point contest scored amongst any WNBA or NBA player.

In this NBA vs. WNBA 3-point contest Curry will shoot from the NBA 3-point line and Ionescu will shoot from the WNBA 3-point line.

Both the NBA and WNBA will donate  to both Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation and Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play. nonprofit as a part of this 3-point contest competition. Additionally, for each 3-pointer made donations will also be made to the black community to help ‘support economic empowerment’.

This historic first time 3-point contest among the NBA vs. WNBA will take place on NBA All-Star Saturday – February 17th at 8:30pm EST on TNT.
