Morgan State’s Tumbling and Acrobatics Team made history by ending its first season as the only D1 HBCU with a Tumbling and Acrobatics team. Only three other schools in Maryland offer the sport, which is a testament to Morgan State’s willingness to pave the way for athletes of color.

On April 11th, the team secured a victory over Bluefield State University, wrapping up an impressive season. It was the team’s second victory. The Morgan State tumbling and acrobatics team is both physically talented and intelligent. The average GPA on the team is 3.2. The team serves as great role models who can empower other women of color to excel athletically and academically.

The team’s head coach, Regina Smith, has an impressive record and a coaching career that includes many college and high school national championships. Coach Smith believes that Morgan State’s acrobatics and tumbling team is important for enhancing diversity in the sport. Smith believes that the team still has many barriers to break and is excited about its future.
