Elon Musk has announced Linda Yaccarino, former chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal, as the new CEO of Twitter. Musk stated that Yaccarino will focus primarily on business operations, while he will focus on product design and new technology. Yaccarino is credited with helping NBC forge non-traditional partnerships with companies such as Apple, Snapchat, and YouTube, and she helped oversee the launch of NBC Peacock. Rumors about Yaccarino assuming the role emerged after Musk tweeted an update stating that he had hired a new CEO, and reports later indicated that Yaccarino had been in talks to become Twitter’s CEO. Yaccarino’s extensive advertising background could help repair the damaged relationships between Twitter and the advertisers that left the platform following Musk’s takeover.
I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!@LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.
Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app. https://t.co/TiSJtTWuky
