The US and Iran have traded strikes in one of the biggest nights of attacks since the ceasefire began in April, with negotiations on perilous ground after days of back-and-forth and rising frustrations on all sides.
Iran launched a deadly new set of attacks in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday as it traded strikes with the United States, the latest exchange to threaten the fragile ceasefire and stalled peace talks between the two countries.
One person was killed, and flights were suspended in Kuwait, officials said, after missile and drone strikes, including an attack on its international airport. Terminal 1, the airport’s main hub for international flights, had only reopened on Monday, according to local media reports, after being damaged in a previous Iranian attack in late February.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s air defenses intercepted and destroyed three missiles and “a number of” drones on Wednesday, according to the country’s military, which condemned Iran’s attacks on the region.

The U.S. military said it shot down Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz and struck Iran’s Qeshm Island a day earlier, US Central Command said. CENTCOM said the strikes were in response to “attempted attacks by Iran across the Middle East.”
“Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional neighbors; however, all failed to hit their intended targets. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart enroute, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by U.S. and Bahrain air defense forces,” CENTCOM said on X.
