Harris Pens Letter to HBCU Students as Her College Voter Push Continues

Vice President Kamala Harris is focusing on mobilizing college students, particularly at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), as part of her campaign efforts in battleground states.

She recently wrote a letter encouraging HBCU students to vote, emphasizing the importance of this year’s elections. Harris, an HBCU alumna, has been active on college campuses, promoting issues like reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ equality. Her campaign is making significant efforts to engage young voters, including launching a “back to school” campaign targeting 150 campuses.

Harris highlighted that college students’ turnout in 2020 was crucial to her becoming vice president, and she stressed that “fundamental freedoms” are at stake in the upcoming election. Both the Harris and Trump campaigns are focusing on college voters, though with different strategies, as Trump’s allies have promoted efforts to make voting more difficult for students.
