Hampton University Receives $4.9 Million from U.S. Department of Education to Establish Climate Science Degree Program

Hampton University recently received a $4.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create a climate science degree program. The grant will solidify Hampton’s position as a top atmospheric and environmental science institution. Hampton plans to establish a world-class program that fosters collaboration between environmental scientists, data analysts, meteorologists, and other experts.

Hampton’s president said the school was thrilled to receive the grant and believes it will help Hampton make significant strides in climate science research. The university’s dean of the School of Science, Isi Ero-Johnson, stated, “Hampton University has long been a renowned leader in the field of climate research since launching satellites to study the weather in the early 2000s.”
