Google Unveils 2023’s Top Searches, Most Searched Performance Goes to Beyoncé

As this year winds down, the tech giant has released what people across the U.S. and the globe have ‘googled’ the most in 2023 on its search engine.

Most Searched News: the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the submarine that imploded this summer on its way to search for the Titanic wreckage, and February’s devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Most Searched Movies: in the world of entertainment trends, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Jawan took the top three most searched movies of 2023.

Most Searched Performance: Beyoncé’s Coachella performance was recognized as the most searched performance since Google began keeping track of searches 25 years ago.

Most Searched TV Shows: “The Last of Us,” “Wednesday,” and “Ginny and Georgia”.

Most Searched Celebrity Deaths: Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, Sinéad O’Connor, Ken Block, and Jerry Springer led the most searched names of people who died.

Most Searched Personality: Damar Hamlin, a safety with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, topped the list of Google’s trending personalities for the year. Hamlin experienced a near-death cardiac arrest during a January game but made a celebrated comeback. Actor Jeremy Renner, who survived a serious snowplow accident early in 2023, followed closely.

Most Searched Sports Team: Inter Miami FC topped the most searched sports team of 2023 following the acquisition of Argentine soccer superstar Lionel Messi.

Most Searched Trending Song: Yoasobi’s “アイドル (Idol)” was Google’s top trending song on search. Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” — which soared in the charts after controversy this summer — and Shakira and Bizarrap’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” followed.

And in the U.S. specifically, many consumers spent 2023 asking why eggs, Taylor Swift tickets and sriracha bottles were so expensive — while “rizz” (recently named Oxford’s word of the year ) was a frontrunner for trending slang definition inquires.

Although there are weeks left in 2023, it is safe to say that this year has seen many trends taking the world by storm.
