On Wednesday, the Florida A&M athletic department announced that former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson has been hired as an athletics ambassador and consultant. On a previous episode of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Johnson shared that he was going to pursue his degree at FAMU while joining the school’s Marching 100 band. In a statement, Johnson stated that “I fell in love with FAMU after attending my first (Florida) Classic in 1984 with my grandma, and the rest is history.” FAMU’s vice president and director of athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes said in a statement “anyone familiar with Chad knows that he has always been a great ambassador for FAMU” and that “It’s time to make it official. I am happy that we could reach an agreement to formalize his role with the university.”
