Fatal shooter of California store owner over Pride flag named

A 27-year-old man named Travis Ikeguchi has been identified as the perpetrator who shot and killed Laura Ann Carleton, a California business owner, allegedly due to her display of a Pride flag at her clothing store in Lake Arrowhead. The killing is being investigated as a possible hate crime, as Ikeguchi reportedly shouted homophobic slurs about the Pride flag before the shooting. After the shooting, Ikeguchi fled the scene but was later killed by law enforcement in a confrontation where he fired at patrol vehicles with an unregistered semi-automatic handgun. Officials are looking into Ikeguchi’s social media history, which reportedly included posts critical of the LGBTQ community and law enforcement. California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the shooting, emphasizing that such hate has no place in the state, while local officials expressed their commitment to creating an environment of acceptance and tolerance for all individuals.
