Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy performed Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at the Iowa State Fair, but he has been asked by Eminem himself to stop using his music in his campaign. The performing rights organization BMI informed Ramaswamy’s campaign of Eminem’s objection to the use of his musical compositions in the campaign. Ramaswamy had performed the song at an event alongside Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and had even mentioned that it was his preferred walkout song for campaign events. In response to the request, the campaign stated they would comply and humorously acknowledged that they would leave the rapping to the “real slim shady.” Ramaswamy has portrayed his youth as an asset in connecting with a diverse group of voters.
