Dolton, Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard and several Dolton police officers face a Section 1983 lawsuit in the Northern District of Illinois. The lawsuit alleges civil rights violations, including First Amendment Retaliation, Fourth Amendment wrongful arrest, malicious prosecutions, Monell claims, State Malicious Prosecution, and Indemnification claims. The complaint accuses Mayor Henyard of weaponizing the police to stifle criticism, arresting individuals for minor infractions, and generating fake police reports to silence dissent. The legal action seeks remedies for alleged constitutional and state law violations committed by the mayor and law enforcement officials.

Henyard has previously made national headlines after being accused of using taxpayer funds for personal gain which caused the Dolton, IL trustees to sue her over financial records.
