Big 12 looking to add one more team to conference

The Big 12 is considering adding one more school to its conference membership, aiming to eventually have 14 teams after Oklahoma and Texas depart for the SEC in 2024. Big 12 sources revealed that they believe 14 teams would be the best number for the conference. After adding Cincinnati, Houston, BYU, and UCF for this season, the Big 12 is looking to find another school to join its ranks. There is interest within the Big 12 in Arizona, as the Pac-12 faces uncertainty and will have nine members after Colorado’s departure. However, Arizona’s president has stated that they want to see the Pac-12’s new media deal before making any decisions. The Big 12 is also open to considering schools with strong football programs in addition to basketball. As the Pac-12 awaits its media deal, other schools may decide to make a move and join the Big 12 before the opportunity is gone.
